Dentistry

Dental disease is an extremely common problem in the pet population. Statistics show that around 85% of dogs and cats over the age of 3 years already have dental disease! At the Drove we are passionate about informing our clients about disease prevention and associated medical problems. We perform denistry on ALL species including dogs, cats, rabbits and exotics animals (such as chinchillas etc).

Not only does dental disease result in unsightly tartar and calculus (calcified plaque, containing huge quantities of harmful bacteria), foul smelling breath, infection and eventually the loss of teeth, it can cause far more serious health problems. As our pet chews, large quantities of bacteria from the infected mouth are released into the blood stream where it travels around our pet’s body to their heart, lungs, liver, kidneys or brain which can cause serious systemic disease. We at Drove Veterinary Hospital realise the importance of prevention and treatment of dental disease, so have set in motion a thorough health care dental program for your pet.

A FREE dental hygiene consultation can be arranged by appointment with a qualified Veterinary Nurse, where your pet’s mouth will be individually assessed as to the best prevention or treatment program.

This may include:-
  • Tooth brushing demonstration and advice
  • Home tooth brushing
  • Specialist dental diet
  • Introduction of dental chews and toys
Or if treatment is required:-
  • Ultrasonic scale and polish
  • Dental radiography
  • Detailed dental chart
  • Tooth extraction if required (free t/d diet included)
FREE follow up dental hygiene consultations with a Veterinary Nurse.  Our Pets' life expectancy can be affected if dental disease is neglected, so let us work together to prevent our pets suffering from this extremely serious disease.
